Well aaaaaaaaaaaactually, viruses are no longer written to be malicious. Gone are the days of writing viruses to delete your files or slow down your computer. The reason? It’s far more profitable for nerdy evil doers to write a virus that runs un-detected, using it’s computer host as a slave to send out spam emails, and log key strokes to sniff for credit card numbers. There’s simply more money in writing evil software that performs well and slips by un-noticed.

In other terrifying news: a worm capable of seizing control of industrial plants has affected the personal computers of staff working at Iran’s first nuclear power station weeks before the facility was to go online. Run and tell that.
